The door isn't closed on forgotten Don Kieran Agard

Opportunities for Kieran Agard to get back into the MK Dons side are likely to be few and far between this season, but Russell Martin has not ruled it out.

MK Dons' third all-time leading scorer Agard has not kicked a ball this season, missing some of pre-season with a knee injury, but has been out of favour since the manager took over last November.

Playing just nine times under Martin, and being sent off in consecutive appearances, Agard has become a forgotten man, not even appearing on the bench this season since returning from injury as he has dropped to sixth in the pecking order up front.

Martin said both he and Agard are on the same page in terms of the opportunities the 31-year-old will be afforded this season, but says the striker has remained professional throughout and would be called upon if he was needed.

"Kieran is fit, he has been training," said the manager. "When he gets fully fit again, he might be involved again at some point.

"We've had a lot of communication, he knows where I stand on things, he knows where I stand too. Unfortunately, he just doesn't fit into the team or the squad at the moment because we've got some really good options. But the door is never closed, because we might need him at some point.

"He's a good pro, trains properly every day. He just has to wait for a chance if one comes along. He's really good with the younger guys around him."
