Deadline day signings Will Grigg and Zak Jules have to wait to make their MK Dons debuts and will given a watching brief during tonight's Papa John's Trophy quarter-final against Sunderland (kick-off at 6.30pm).

Both, as well as Harry Darling, are cup-tied for the game at Stadium MK, with Grigg also unavailable for Saturday's game against the Black Cats - his parent club.

It means Dons head into tonight's game without those three, while Andrew Surman and Jordan Houghton remain sidelined through injury, and question marks remain over whether David Kasumu will be fit.

Just two wins away from a Wembley final though, Russell Martin believes Dons have come too far in the Papa John's Trophy to take the competition lightly at this stage.

"It’s a competition you can't undervalue because of what's on offer at the end of it," he said. "We want to get to Wembley and win something. We’re close and put a lot of hard work to get to this point of the competition.

"We are very light on numbers, we’ve a lot who aren’t available because they are cup-tied, we’ve a few injuries too so it’s going to be a slim squad and people will get a chance to impress.

"Whoever plays tomorrow will go out there to win. We’ll be prepared, it’ll be a tough game, but it’s one we are really looking forward to."
