Argyle took the lead after just three minutes through James Wilson, before Nathan Holland equalised for the visitors in 19 minutes. Niall Ennis though restored Plymouth’s lead just before the break, and Morgan Whittaker’s goal not long after it ensured the points for the hosts.
Here’s how we rated the players on New Year’s Day.
5. Henry Lawrence - 6.5
Held his side well on his return to the side. Lost the ball at the far end of the pitch which led to Plymouth's second goal, but made some key tackles in the second-half especially, and it was his deflected strike which led to Holland equalising Photo: Pete Norton
6. Bradley Johnson - 5.5
Didn't give Dons much control in the centre of the park, and was the man beaten to the ball for Plymouth's opener Photo: Jane Russell
7. Ethan Robson - 5.5
Tenacious and battling but Dons' midfield was overrun too easily Photo: Pete Norton
8. Dawson Devoy - 6
Was Dons' best midfield outlet, and when they had a spell of pressure, was the key man. But he faded in the second-half Photo: Jane Russell
