The visitors could and should have probably won the game on the balance of chances, with Joe Tomlinson, Alex Gilbey and Mo Eisa all having gilt-edged opportunities, while the defence held strong at the other end.
Here’s how we rated the players.
5. Cameron Norman - 8
Played at centre-back on his return to his former club and did not look out of place. Had to cover a lot of ground with Leko pressed forwards, but did really well, making some crucial blocks to keep a clean sheet. His best showing in a Dons shirt Photo: Jane Russell
6. Joe Tomlinson - 7
Had a decent shot into the side netting in the first-half, but after rounding the keeper in the second, had to score only to see his strike miss the target. This chance though sparked Dons' dominance of the latter stages Photo: Jane Russell
7. Jonathan Leko - 6
Didn't do a lot in the way of defensive duties, and his final ball was dramatically lacking for the most part. Became a more reliable part of the team as the game wore on, making life hard for Matty Bondswell Photo: Jane Russell
8. MJ Williams - 6.5
Happy to break up play and offload, picking up the ball in dangerous areas before handing off to Payne to make things tick Photo: Jane Russell
