Stephen Walker is extremely critical of his own performances after coming off the pitch, but said it is vital not to dwell for too long on bad games.

Russell Martin said Walker's performances are improving with every game, but admitted he was guilty of trying to do too much at times after he missed two great chances to add to his tally in the 3-1 defeat to Hull on Saturday. The 20-year-old said he regularly analysed his own performances, and is his own harshest critic, but does not dwell on what he has done wrong for long.

"You have to look at yourself," he said. "Don't beat yourself up because you'll overthink, but you have to take a look at yourself and be honest. I always reflect on my performances, whether I've done well.

"I'm my harshest critic and will beat myself up straight after the game. But the next day, I'm ready for the next one and focussed again. You can overthink too much, but we'll all be dying to get back out there.

"We've got a great squad, everyone in and around it. We have full confidence in whoever is playing or not playing. That's what you need. Sometimes, when you're not playing well, you need your mate to pick you up and drag you out of it, and I feel like we're perfect at doing that."

Following the disappointment of losing to the League One leaders on Saturday, Dons have the chance to react on Tuesday night when they host Shrewsbury at Stadium MK.

Walker continued: "I hate waiting between games after we've lost. We are all dying to get out there because we want to react. Everyone is beating themselves up because we're better than what we just showed. I should have taken my chances better, we should have defended better. We cannot wait to get back in and react.
