Joe Walsh was putting in some of the most consistent performances during his career at MK Dons at the turn of the year, but has had to be patient in recent weeks after he lost his place in the side.

The 27-year-old has had a watching brief for most of February after Jordan Moore-Taylor's return to the starting line-up, but returned to the side on Saturday for the 1-1 draw with Rotherham in the absence of Dean Lewington.

"Anyone would be frustrated coming out of the side," said Walsh after the game. "I had to respect the manager's decision, be patient and wait for my time.

"I've had to be patient over the last few weeks, with the boys doing well, but I'm happy to be back in today, we didn't lose and we got a good point."

Walsh appeared to block Lee Nicholls' sight of Freddie Ladapo's 10th minute strike as Rotherham took an early lead at the New York Stadium, but the defender made up for it by setting up Rhys Healey for his 12th goal of the season 11 minutes later as the sides shared the spoils.

Walsh continued: "It was a good point, we'll take it. It wasn't a very good game to watch I don't think. We were backs to the wall in the second half, but we defended well and got a point.

"We knew what they would do, they'd be horrible, go long every time and play off the big striker but we dealt with it OK. They had a few chances in the second half, but we managed told on at 1-1.

"It was windy, it was swirling around everywhere and we didn't know where the ball was going to end up, especially with their keeper kicking it long every time.

"We could play as much as we wanted to today, we had to go back to basics, defend as a team. We know we can play better, but we can't play really well every week.
