It was an opportunity missed, according to Rotherham's Paul Warne after his side were held to a 1-1 draw by MK Dons on Saturday.

Freddie Ladapo's goal after 10 minutes saw the League One leaders open the scoring at the New York Stadium, but a superb Rhys Healey strike midway through the first half earned Russell Martin's side a share of the spoils. Ladapo missed a glorious chance early in the second period, as did Alex Gilbey in stoppage time as both sides squandered chances to take all three points.

“It was frustrating," said Warne afterwards. "I’m not pleased with a point, but we haven’t lost the game and we’re still in a good position. It does feel like one that’s got away and with the last home game as well where we dropped two points in the last minute.

“I thought we had most of the ball. They obviously got their goal in the first half but it was mostly us.

“It’s disappointing but I can’t be disappointed with the lads’ effort. We just weren’t as clinical to win it and if we’d have got that second goal, we always seem to win comfortably when we go two goals up.

“We had a couple of really glaring chances and for anyone at the game today, they’ll know which ones I’m talking about. If we take them, we win the game and we’re really happy. Even though we didn’t take them, it doesn’t detract from what was a really good performance. The lads are in good shape but I’m disappointed we’ve dropped two points.”
