WATCH: MK Dons beat Shrewsbury on opening day of the season
Daniel Powell scored the only goal of the game as MK Dons won on their return to League 1 on Saturday, beating Shrewsbury 1-0.
After a closely fought first half, Darren Potter hit the bar when he was left unmarked to meet Ed Upson’s free kick early in the second period.
While Shrews seemed content to settle for a point, Dons pressed for a winner and it came 18 minutes from time when Daniel Powell latched on to Upson’s back heeled flick to lash home from inside the box.
The result leaves Dons eighth in the table.
