Despite being just 19-years-old, Sam Gallagher had nearly 20 Premier League appearances under his belt by the time he arrived at Stadium MK on loan from Southampton in 2015.

After excelling in the Saints' academy, Gallagher was a regular off the bench at St Mary's, with two goals in 20 appearances and drew attention from a lot of Championship clubs before plumping for newly-promoted MK Dons for the 15/16 season.

But with Dons' struggles in the Championship, particularly in the striking department, a lot of pressure was piled on Gallagher. With Simon Church struggling to make an impact, and Nicky Maynard not arriving at the club until late September, Gallagher was expected to lead the line. But as chances went awry, so did Gallagher's confidence. In 15 appearances, no goals followed for the teenager and his loan spell was cut short by Southampton in January.

The following season though showed what Gallagher was capable of, despite once again being part of a squad battling at the wrong end of the Championship table. Scoring 12 goals for Blackburn, Rovers were relegated to League One at the end of the season, though Gallagher's performances earned him another loan move to the second tier for the following campaign, this time with Birmingham City.

Despite spending a lot of the first part of the season on the wing, Gallagher's best form came when he played upfront with his return of six goals proving enough to be the top-scorer for the club that year.

Returning to Southampton for 2018/19, Gallagher made six appearances for the Saints before Blackburn, promoted back to the Championship, came calling once again, picking up the 24-year-old for an undisclosed fee. This season, he has been a regular at Ewood Park, making 33 appearances with four goals to his name.
