We take a look back through some of the former Dons bosses and their assistants and what they have been up to since leaving Stadium MK.
5. Roberto Di Matteo
Narrowly missing out on promotion to the Championship in his first attempt at management with Dons, Di Matteo moved on to West Brom and took the Baggies to the Premier League. A poor run of form in the top flight the next season though saw him lose his job, but he bounced back quickly by becoming assistant to Andre Villas-Boas at Chelsea. When the Portuguese was sacked though, Di Matteo led the Blues to the Champions League and with it, the permanent job at Stamford Bridge. After getting sacked though in 2013, jobs at Schalke and Aston Villa followed. Photo: Nathan Stirk
6. Richie Barker
Was Dons' caretaker manager in the aftermath of Karl Robinson's dismissal, made to play the waiting game before Robbie Neilson's appointment. Popular Barker followed Robinson to Charlton Athletic before the pair left in 2017. Barker then took up a job at former club Rotherham, where he has remained since, helping guide them to promotion to the Championship this season. Photo: Pete Norton
7. Martin Allen
Allen made the big jump from the MK Dons to Leicester City after just one season at the National Hockey Stadium, but left the Foxes after just four games in charge following a falling out with the chairman. Spells at Cheltenham, Barnet, Notts County, Barnet, Gillingham, Barnet, Eastleigh, (you guessed it) Barnet and Chesterfield followed, but Allen has been out of the management game since Christmas 2018. 8. Danny Wilson
After the heroics of keeping Dons up in 2004/05, Wilson could not repeat the feat a year later, and lost his job as a result. Jobs at Hartlepool, Swindon, Sheffield United, Barnsley and Chesterfield followed but has not had a management job since January 2017. Photo: Michael Regan
