After narrowly missing out on promotion to the Championship by a point and then losing in the play-off semi-final to Wycombe Wanderers, Dons had their eyes set on another promotion push this time 12 months ago.
During the course of the summer, 11 recognised first-teamers left Stadium MK for pastures new, and for a lot of them, they were celebrating come the end of the season.

5. Aden Balwin
Something of a forgotten man at MK Dons in 2021/22, Baldwin joined non-league Notts County, under the guidance of former Dons assistant manager Luke Williams. A regular for the Magpies in the National League, Baldwin helped County to promotion back into the Football League Photo: Cameron Smith
6. Troy Parrott
After taking his time to settle and find his feet at MK Dons, Parrott returned to Tottenham last summer, before being loaned back out this time to Preston North End. Making 21 starts in the Championship and 40 appearances over all, the Ireland international ended with five goals - including a late equaliser against Luton Town - to his name as Preston finished 12th Photo: Clive Brunskill
7. Theo Corbeanu
The winger had a decent spell on loan at Dons from Wolves, but was given Championship experience at the start of last season when sent out to Blackpool. In 18 appearances, Corbeanu netted three goals before injury ended his spell at Bloomfield Road early. 8. Scott Twine
After being named League One's Player of the Year, Twine was hot property. Leaving MK Dons for Burnley, who had just been relegated from the Premier League, the 23-year-old suffered injury early on, and it hampered his progress.
