Who is Dons' newest signing Zak Jules?

Zak Jules joins Harry Darling from swapping regular League Two football for the lure of League One by signing for MK Dons from Walsall.

The 23-year-old Scottish defender has been a regular at the back for the Saddlers since joining in summer 2019 from Macclesfield Town, and making 20 appearances so far this season.

Left-footed, the tall defender can play on the left of defence and can be deployed at left-back.

His career began at Reading but he never made an appearance for the Royals, instead getting his first taste of first team football with Hemel Hempstead Town, Braintree and Motherwell in loan spells.

Signing for Shrewsbury as a 20-year-old in 2017, he was immediately loaned out to Chesterfield but quickly suffered a bad hamstring injury, which limited him to just six appearances for the Spireites. With fitness restored, he was loaned out again to Port Vale for the remainder of the season.

Not a part of Shrewsbury's plans for the following season either, he was loaned to National League side Barnet before agreeing his release from Shrewsbury, where he was snapped up by Macclesfield, who were fighting for League Two survival. Helping to keep the Silkmen in the division, Jules had a contract for the following season, but his performances impressed Walsall brought his services to the Banks's Stadium for 2019/20 he made 42 appearances in 18 months.

Scottish through his mother, Jules has made appearances for Scotland U17s, U19s, U20s and U21s.
