Daniel Harvie and Regan Poole have not often had to work on their finishing, but it is something they have to improve to help MK Dons this season.

The Scot, a left-back for the majority of his career, netted his second goal of the season on Tuesday night as Dons cruised to a 4-1 win over Swindon Town, while he teed up his opposite flanker Poole for Dons' fourth on the night.

Both have been given new responsibility this season, outside of the game they have been asked to play during their careers so far, and it means more involvement at the sharp end of the pitch.

Speaking after the Swindon win, Harvie said both he and Poole are continuing to adapt to their new positions, and need to add more goals and assists to their game to maximise their roles.

"I think, personally, I should have a few more goals and assists this season but we're working on that," he said. "Me and Regan want to help the strikers and the team. Scott and Cammy are scoring a few goals, but we have to help them and I'm delighted to do that.

"When you get into those areas, you have to put in a good delivery, to give players like Joe Mason or Cammy a chance to finish – it's what they do.

"We always try and get to the far post when the opposite wing-back has the ball, so sometimes you pop up in the box a bit more and you've got to have that composure to finish.

"It's different to where we've played at previous clubs – Regan has always played at centre back and me at left back. But you have to keep a cool head and try to score."
