Wolves celebrate good times

Wolverton Town made The New Park their home ground two years ago and will mark the occasion with two events in the coming few weeks.

Wolves, who play in SML Division Two, welcome Blue Square Bet North side Oxford City to their Greenleys home this Saturday to kick-off the celebrations, with the match getting under way at 2.30pm. City were formed in 1887 – the same year as Wolves.

The semi-professional side finished 10th in their division last season and will provide a testing workout for the Wolves amateurs under new manager Steve Mahoney who has taken over from Chris Pottinger.

And the second part of the anniversary celebrations will see former England U21 and ‘B’ international Julian Dicks host a training session with the Wolves’ first team squad.

The defender, best known for his time with West Ham, holds a wealth of experience from a 16-year playing career and management spells at the likes of Grays Athletic.

The training session will be open to the public at The New Park on Thursday, August 8 at 7pm. For further details call Wolves development officer Steve Greenwood on 07792 623751.
