Wycombe are on a torrid run of six defeats in a row away from Adams Park, with Dons adding to their misery thanks to goals from Rhys Healey and Ben Gladwin in the second period.

The result sees Dons climb nine-points clear of the relegation zone, while Wycombe fell three points behind Rotherham but remain second in League One.

“It was a close game," said Wycombe manager Ainsworth after the game. "I didn’t see MK breaking us down from open play. But we didn’t hit the target when we had chances and then got done by a set-play. That was the killer goal.

"The performance could’ve been better, especially in the second half. I’ll take that, learn from it, and get the boys ready for next Saturday.”
