Dons were without a game at the weekend because of Portsmouth's FA Cup involvement, and will be given a watching brief again in three weeks when they should have hosted Bury at Stadium MK.

After Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said his first team players needed a break and neither he nor they would not be involved in their FA Cup fourth round replay against Shrewsbury at Anfield.

With talk of a winter break, Martin said his side, who have played 36 games this season, said a break would just force more fixtures into a tighter calendar.

He said: "Maybe something could be done after that, but for us, there's fixtures everywhere - you'd have to fit in the games somewhere else. We're comfortable with it. Ideally we'd play every Saturday, but we've used this one to our advantage and it will be the same in a few weeks.

"Circumstances are different as to why we've got weekends off, but I don't know. I had to fill in a questionnaire about it three years ago when I was still playing international football! Every player said 'yes please!' but I love the Christmas and Boxing Day fixtures, it's traditional."
