Forza make great start to the year

TeamForza Badminton Academy are celebrating an excellent start to 2014.

Last weekend, the players, who play out of David Lloyd Leisure in Willen, took part in the MK Gold tournament at the National Badminton Centre.

TeamForza players recent set of results at the MK Gold event held at the National Badminton Centre, where the top players from all over the United Kingdom were in attendance are simply remarkable.

The players won every event and in two finals, it saw TeamForza players challenging their own team mates for the crown.

Forza’s results were as follows:

Boys Singles Champion – Callum Hemming.

Girls Singles Champion – Fee Teng Liew.

Boys Doubles Champions – Harry Huang/Callum Hemming.

Girls Doubles Champions – Fee Teng Liew/Lizzie Tolman).

Mixed Doubles Champions – Harry Huang/Fee Teng Liew.

Boys Doubles Runners up – Steven Stallwood/Avi Gutpa.

Mixed Doubles Runners up – Callum Hemming/Lizzie Tolman.

Girls Singles Bronze Medallist – Ruchika Madhotra.

The MK Gold is considered the top U15 circuit competition in the UK and for one small Milton Keynes team to have had a clean sweep of all the titles is a historic event that has never been achieved before.

TeamForza Head Coach Ross Reid said: “This achievement is the culmination of 10 years of hard work where we have discovered, recruited and provided children with the opportunity to play badminton in a focused learning environment that is geared to success.”
