Goals are just around the corner for Kieran Agard

Last season's top scorer Kieran Agard is yet to open his account this season, but he feels it is only a matter of time before he finds the back of the net.

Dons' record signing netting 14 times last season, topping the charts in his first campaign with the club.

With injury ruling him out for several weeks in August and September, Agard has been limited to just 10 appearances and only four starts this season but hasn't managed to get himself on the scoresheet.

The 27-year-old backs himself though to score sooner rather than later.

"I think I should have scored at least one, but it's coming and I'm confident I'll score goals this season," he said. "I'm a goal-scorer, it's what I want to do to help the team. I'm always shooting in training, I stay behind after training, and the goals will come.

"I'm definitely pleased to be back. Playing football is all we all want to do, and I'm happy! It's frustrating when you get injured, but it's part and parcel of being a footballer. You work hard to get back, and I'm thankful to all the medical staff who have helped me back.

"I'm feeling sharp, I worked hard while I was off and I'm feeling good again. The last thing you want is to come back in only to come back out again because you haven't healed properly - it's even more frustration. You've got to put in the hard work to get fit again."

Since Agard's return, away at Plymouth, Dons have lost just once - the 2-0 defeat at Peterborough - now five undefeated in all competitions.

But far from taking all the credit himself, Agard says Dons recent run is down to the team finally gelling well together.

He said: "We've gone really well since I was out. It was a gelling period really, and now we're seeing the results. The confidence is growing. It was only a matter of time before we got a few good results under our belts. It's great for our confidence."
