Joseph Amer has been named National American Golf Junior Champion by fending off some of the best young golfers the UK and Ireland has to offer.
The 15-year-old, who plays out of Abbey Hill, plays off 14 and came home three ahead of his closest rival with an impressive 40 points, having beaten 36 other young golfers in the final.
As well as the title and trophy, Joseph also won a G30 Driver and Cadence putter courtesy of event sponsor PING.
He said: “Firstly I’d like to say a big thank you to American Golf for organising such an extraordinary event, to PING Europe for sponsoring fantastic prizes and Gainsborough Golf Club for letting us play the beautiful Thonock Park course.
“To win the American Golf Junior Championship is beyond pleasing, because I haven’t played in a tournament like it before.
“I hope I can play in more tournaments like this in the future as it provided such a great experience.
“I’d also like to congratulate the other players and wish them luck in the future.”
Daniel Gathercole, Head of Marketing at American Golf added: “Joseph played exceptionally well under pressure and is a deserved champion.”
