Bryan Harvey claimed victory in his first ever Club Championship at Abbey Hill Golf Centre, winning by just a single shot in a closely fought contest.
Harvey, who plays off a handicap of six, was playing in his first championship having only started playing at the public pay-and-play centre this after emigrating from South Africa.
His total of four-over-par for the 36-hole event was enough to win by just a single shot from second-placed Mark Evans.
Ian Dearn, playing off a handicap of eight, shot a net 132, to lift the Reg Coates Trophy, awarded to the lowest net score for the two rounds.
More than 60 golfers competed in the event played over the par-71 Main Course at Abbey Hill – part of BGL Golf, the UK’s leading golf course owner and operator.
Gordon Forster, Abbey Hill Golf Centre General Manager, said: “There are some outstanding golfers playing at Abbey Hill so there was a feeling it was going to be a close run Club Championship, and those involved did not disappoint with some great golf played over the two days.”
