Members of Milton Keynes Rowing Club were in the medals at the Star Rowing Club’s Head of River race on Sunday.
Another fantastic performance from Steve Lawson gave him a win in the Masters E singles, and made him one of the fastest scullers on the river Racing in the Masters E single sculls in a time of 7:52.
The ladies IM 1 eight were an amassing joint first with the City of Oxford crew -a wonderful result for Heidi Towse, Lou Rivett, Catharine Keeling, Lindy Gray, Louisa Briar, Lucy Millett, Karen Wilson, Paula Heywood.
The Ladies Masters C 8 took to the water later in the day and won in a time of 7:11 Heidi Towse, Lou Rivett, Jayne Skeith, Kathrine Billingham, Cathrie Keeling, Clare Lawson, Karen Wilson and Paula Heywood.
The womens novice (new to the sport) 4+ came within five seconds of the winning crew a very positive result for their head race.
The demure women’s Masters ABC 2x the came second to much larger opposition losing by just eight seconds.
Rod Bennet and Mike Arding 8:23 third in their Masters D 2X.
The mens Masters b 4+ came second in their age group.
Men’s captain Chris Wilson said: “There have been some really positive results from our other crews, and several people have said to me it was the best race they’ve rowed for ages, with plenty of cheering from the bank.”
Ladies captain added: “Some brilliant racing and excellent times despite a couple of mishaps when equipment failed.
“This has been a great introduction to racing for our development ladies crews.”
