Fallon Sherrock believes she can go one step further next season after reaching the final of the BDO Darts Championships.

The 20-year-old from Milton Keynes was beaten by reigning champion Lisa Ashton 3-1 at Lakeside Country Club on Saturday in only her second appearance in the championships.

Last year, Sherrock was beaten at the quarter final stage by Russian Anastasia Dobromyslova.

But this time around, she saw off Dobromyslova 2-1 in the semi-finals to set up a date with 44-year-old Ashton in the final.

Ashton eased through the first set, and then took the second after Sherrock missed a series of darts at a double.

She pulled one back in the third to reduce the arrears to 2-1, but Ashton overpowered her in the fourth set to complete the 3-1 win.

Sherrock, the youngest player ever to reach a BDO world final, can be proud of her achievements during her second World Championship appearance though, hitting six 180s in the final.

“I’ve really enjoyed it,” she said afterwards. “I’ve got this far so I’m pretty sure I can win it in the future.

“I would like to thank everyone for their support! Coming runner up was a great achievement for me and I’m so proud of myself.”
