The ice hockey season may have only just finished, but MK Lightning are already making steps towards building their roster for the next campaign, announcing the signing of Rene Jarolin.
The Slovakian forward joins from the Elite League Edinburgh Capitals.
Rene, 33, will be an imposing figure on the ice for Lightning at 6’ 2”.
He signed for the Caps in 2011, making an immediate impact - in his first season becoming the Elite League’s top goal-scorer for 2011-12 with 43 goals from 60 appearances. That represented 20 more goals for his team than their next most prolific scorer.
Speaking about his move, Jarolin said: “I’m very happy to be a part of the MK Lightning organisation.
“I am looking forward to meeting my teammates and the fans. I hope that we’ll have a successful season and win a lot of games. I’m really looking forward to getting started.”
“I’m delighted to have managed to bring in one of the pure goal scorers from the Elite League in the shape of Rene Jarolin”, said Lightning’s Head Coach and Director of Hockey, Pete Russell.
“For me this is a great pick-up and will add so much to our offensive punch for the coming season. Rene has averaged 30 goals per season in the EIHL during his time in Edinburgh.”
