LIGHTNING skipper Adam Carr is expecting another tough ride against rivals Peterborough Phantoms this Saturday night as his side go in search of just their third four-point weekend of the season.
Lightning welcome Phantoms to Planet Ice on Saturday night before visiting Guildford Flames the following day – a week after helping to knock them off the top of the English Premier League with a surprise 2-1 home win.
However, Lightning’s inconsistency this season was epitomised by their 3-2 defeat at Sheffield Steeldogs on Sunday, keeping them fifth in the table ahead of another difficult double against Phantoms and Flames.
“It’ll be a tough game against Peterborough, it always is,” said captain Carr. “We know we’ll have to be at our best to get the two points.
“Our home form has been good for the most part this season, so we’ll be looking to continue that on Saturday night and hopefully send our supporters home as happy as they were last weekend.
“Then we’ll turn our focus to Guildford on Sunday. We’ve beaten them before on their own ice, and we fully deserved our win against them last Saturday, so we’ll be travelling to the Spectrum with the aim of doing it all over again.”
With only two months of the regular season remaining, Lightning need to start stringing some wins together if they are going to overhaul Slough Jets in fourth place and secure a vital home advantage in the play-offs.
