Grant McPherson will return with MK Lightning next season to mark his tenth season in the black and gold.
Grant signed for MKL in 2006 at just 19 years of age, learning the game in his native Scotland and serving two seasons with the Edinburgh Capitals.
Since then he has worn the team’s colours over 400 times, making the town his long-term home. Two seasons ago he was rewarded for his attitude and commitment by being named one of the team’s two alternate captains.
And with it being his 10th season with Lightning, McPherson will be rewarded with a testimonial at the end of the campaign.
McPherson said: “This is a club that is really going places and I’m excited to be a part of it, and having spoken to both Pete Russell and Nick Poole at length, I can’t wait to get started!
“I’ve known Pete for a long time as he was my coach when representing both Scotland and Great Britain at junior level so I know what he will expect from us as a team.
“The group of guys that he has put together for the season is pretty special and I know we challenging for every bit of silverware going.”
Speaking about his testimonial, he added: “It’s a real honour to be awarded a testimonial.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I think this would happen to me.
This is an organisation that means so much to me and every season I have put on the Lightning Jersey on has been a genuine pleasure.”
