James Kettle stunned players four years older than him as he claimed the Buckinghamshire Junior County Closed championship at the Beaconsfield Squash Club.

Despite being only 13 years old, the youngest in the draw, he took on the boys in the Under 17 category.

After beating Ryan Connor in the quarter finals, James took on Ben Holmes in the semis. James dominated the match and took a solid 3-1 win.

The youngster found himself in the final where he took on his good friend and training partner Archie Landymore. Archie had got the final the hard way, beating the number 4 and 1 seeds on the way.

James took the first game 11-7 and looked comfortable but let Archie back in, losing the second 11-9. Fighting back he took the third game 11-8 before losing the fourth game 11-8. All tied at 2-2, it was very tense.

Both players were clearly nervous in the final game but James managed to steady his nerves more quickly before taking the last game 11-6 to win 3-2 and take the County Championship.
