The Shenley Junior Squash Club star was competing in the boys under 13 category, and didn’t drop a single game on his way to the title.

The draw included Neville Jeyaratnum, also from Milton Keynes as well as the country’s top stars.

As number 1 seed, James had a bye in the first round so his first match meant that he was playing for places 1-8 and he took John Paul Bentham beating him 11-3, 11-0 to move into the semi-final where he was to play Jonathan Frew.

Neville also had a bye in the first round and won his first match 2-0 setting up a semi-final against Cornwall’s Louis Murray.

The semi final saw James breeze past his opponent 2-0, 11-6, 11-3 to make it into the final. Unfortunately Neville lost 2-1, though he beat Jonathan Frew in the 3/4 place play off.

James has faced Louis Murray on one previous occasion and had come out comfortably on top so felt confident going in to the match.

His confidence was completely justified as James put on a fantastic performance and took his opponent apart in style winning 2-0, 11-3, 11-3 to take the win and the title without dropping a game.
