More medals for squash sensation James Kettle

Youngster James Kettle added another medal to his collection as he won the South Regional Junior Squash tournament in Winchester at the weekend.

Competing with fellow MK player Neville Jayaratnum, James was seeded 4 and Neville wax unseeded but both boys got off to a great start winning their first round matches 3-0.

Neville though took on Arham Chandra, but just 8-5.

James next opponent withdrew injured so James got a walkover and moved into the semi final to play the number 1 seed, Oxfordshire’s Luke Perkins. It was a titanic struggle between two talented and promising young squash players. But in a bacl-and-forth match, James edged it 3-2 to progress to the final, taking on Alex Mullins.Alex who is currently ranked at 19 in the country and seeded at 3 had beaten the number 2 seed in the other semi final but was no match for James this year.

James who is ranked at 23 in the country, played some outstanding squash and took the first game 11-7.

The second game was a little tighter but James edged it 12-10.

The third game saw James dominate completely to win the game 11-7, the match 3-0 and the South Regional Championship title.
