More points on the board for Red Bull

Daniel Ricciardo mirrored his fourth place finish in the season opener in Australia two weeks ago with another, behind race winner Nico Rosberg, Kimi Raikkonen and world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Daniil Kvyat put behind him a difficult qualifying session, which saw the Russian start 15th on the grid to come in seventh.

Both cars suffered front wing damage early in the night too, though despite each losing the right-hand end fence, neither opted to replace it at a pit-stop.

Ricciardo’s race was pretty routine. Starting from fifth, he benefitted from Sebastian Vettel’s retirement on the warm-up lap, but clipped Valtteri Bottas’ wheel when the Finn hit Lewis Hamilton at the first corner, causing the damage to the front of the RB12.

Swapping positions with the Williams duo of Bottas and Felipe Massa as strategies played out, Ricciardo eventually settled into a lonely fourth spot, finishing 32 second behind Hamilton in third and 16 seconds ahead of the impressive Romain Grosjean in the Haas.

Kvyat meanwhile also suffered front wing damage at the start, but found himself on an alternative strategy to those around him.

It meant the Russian would often be seen losing positions to those on newer rubber as he fought to make his tyres last.

But a later change saw him emerge from the pits in ninth spot, and with fresher tyres, was able to pick off both the Williams cars late on to take seventh and six points.
