Will Tregurtha picked up his fourth rookie podium in just six races as his outstanding start to the Ginetta Junior Championship continued at Thruxton last weekend.
Thruxton is the fastest circuit in the UK and 15-year-old Tregurtha was hitting speeds of around 110mph as he qualified eighth on a grid containing some of the best young drivers from UK and Europe - which he then converted into an excellent 6th place in the first of his two races. He was also the third rookie across the line.
Unfortunately the second, and final, race for the weekend did not go as well when a major collision early on in the first lap caused substantial damage and sent the Shenley Brook End School pupil to the back of the field. However, a brave drive took him back up the order to 13th by the chequered flag and helped him to some useful championship points. The championship table shows him in the top 10 and within striking distance of the top three after six rounds of the season.
