Champion James Nash won’t return to the World Touring Car Championship to defend his Yokahama Trophy.

The 28-year-old racer from Newport Pagnell won the independent driver’s trophy in just his second year in WTCC with the bamboo-engineering team.

He took two race victories in 2013 in Austria and Portugal, on his way to finishing third overall, behind veteran racers Yvan Muller and Gabriele Tarquini.

Nash is also set to announce his plans by the end of the week, but has posted a series of teaser videos on YouTube, hinting at a move into GT racing with an Audi-equipped team.
