Jordan Stilp believes he will soon be returning to the top step of the podium in the Renault UK Clio Cup series.
The Potterspury racer currently sits fifth in the standings, having accrued more points than at this point 12 months ago, but he feels it could be a whole lot more aftera series of unfortunate events have seen him miss out.
At the latest round at Oulton Park last weekend, Stilp was running in third before he was punted off by Ashley Sutton, demoting him to fifth. Stilp recovered to finish fourth.
He was then part of a huge podium battle in Race 2, with the front runners regularly changing positions throughout the race, eventually seeing Stilp cross the line in third.
And with victories so close yet so far, Stilp knows he’s still in with a chance of making a late challenge for the championship.
“I know I need to fight back against the top three,” he said. “I did it in 2014 and was in with a chance of the title right at the final rounds.
“First and foremost I go racing to enjoy it You can’t lose your head and think you’re going to win it right from the start, though.
“I had the pace to win, but that’s just how it goes, Im looking forward to Croft now, need to get back on the top.”
