Will Tregurtha finished a trophy-filled first season in car racing with a brilliant podium in horrific conditions at the Ginetta Junior Winter Series.
Switching to HHC for the series at Snetterton at the weekend, the 15-year-old drove to an outstanding second place in the second of the four races over the rain-hit weekend against a grid of 19 drivers.
Tregurtha had also finished fourth in qualifying and fourth place in race three.
His hopes of overall series glory were wrecked by an engine sensor problem which put a premature end to race four just after he had moved into second.
But despite narrowly missing out, Tregurtha cannot wait to mount a serious challenge for the title next season.
He said: “I am really looking forward to next season already. I’ve plenty to work on to improve - and I will - but I am also confident that we have the pace to race at the very front, challenging for wins and the outright championship. We proved that this weekend.”
