Newly formed Milton Keynes triathlon team GreenlightPT have had an excellent start to the season dominating local races on the opening weekends of the season.

With the team feeling strong after a weekend training camp at Stowe School, the hard work clearly paid off.

Head Coach Adam Gibson took first place overall at Luton’s Aquathlon, which consisted of a 400m swim followed by a 5km run.

After having the quickest swim split of the day, Adam was being closed down on the run but managed to hold off Mat Clarkson to take the victory by just 16 seconds.

In the women’s event another GreenlightPT member also took first place.

Kerry Large was trailing by 44 seconds on the swim exit but her strength showed on the run as she quickly bridged the gap and took the lead and finished strongly to take the women’s title.

On the same day at Bicester Sprint Triathlon, David Glossy, also racing for GreenlightPT, added another victory for the team in the sprint distance event.

After his usual strong bike and run David was being chased on the run but managed to hold on to first place by six seconds.

Also at Duston Triathlon in Northampton, Nicole Clarke, pictured above, took victory in her age category at her first race of the season.

Most of the team will now turn their focus towards longer distance races over the summer, as a large number of the team look to perform well at Half Ironman distance events in both the UK and abroad.
