North Bucks riders race against the clock

Twelve riders lined up for the third round in the North Bucks Time Trial League on a cold and damp Saturday morning to ride the Stoke Hammond course.

Stoke Hammond is one of the faster courses used, owing to the dual carriageway section but a headwind after the turn meant it was not going to be a day for any personal bests.

North Bucks rider Robert Saunders took first place with a time of 24 minutes 9 seconds, another good ride from Lindz Barral of Equipe Velo saw him improve on last week’s third place, with a ride of 24 minutes 43 seconds securing second place.

The final podium place was taken by Andy Wickham with a time of 25 minutes and 4 seconds, again riding for North Bucks.

Strong performances throughout the rest of the field, including a good ride from Katja Rietdorf of Team MK, her first event since a nasty crash in a 100 mile time trial left her injured for a large portion of the 2015 season, and a bad morning for Martyn Douglas with a puncture at the 8 mile mark meaning he was unable to finish the event.

The next event in the series is the annual hardriders event, a 20 mile hilly time trial race which includes two trips up the steep church road climb in Bow Brickhill.
