Ryan Watson fired Northampton Town's opener in the League Two play-off final on Monday night as their crushed hapless Exeter City 4-0 at Wembley Stadium, but he is not the only former Dons player celebrating promotion this season.

Watson netted seven goals in 35 appearances for the Cobblers as they secured promotion via the play-offs, alongside former Dons loanee Chris Lines, who made 18 appearances in 2013. For Watson, it was back-to-back promotions after he was a part of Paul Tisdale's side who secured automatic promotion last year.

Champions Crewe boasted two former Dons players in their ranks as they claimed the League Two title. Middlesbrough striker Ste Walker joined the Railwaymen on loan in January, having spent the same spell in 2019 at Stadium MK, while the club's third all-time leading scorer Daniel Powell made a big impact at the Alexandra Stadium with nine goals.

Another one celebrating going back-to-back was defender Mathieu Baudry. Although his season at MK Dons was ravaged through injury, limiting him to just five appearances, he made 26 showings for Swindon Town as they finished second in League TwoFor the Frenchman, it was his third promotion to League One in four seasons, after helping Doncaster to the third tier in 2016/17.

Plymouth Argyle also boast two former Dons in their ranks as they secured the final automatic promotion spot. Scott Wootton made 42 appearances for the Pilgrims, who are led by former Dons striker Ryan Lowe after he led Bury to promotion last season as well.
