OLNEY's long awaited 24 hour match was called off at the weekend after national publicity had flagged up the town as a 'party venue' with wonderful 'wild-water' swimming from its riverside green spaces.

As thousands of unwanted visitors departed, locals were left to clear up crate-loads of laughing gas ampoules along with mountains of other rubbish. Olney club's Ian Barnes said: "It was unbelievable. We had to callthe match off, it just wasn't worth the aggro of trying to go ahead."
