Dimond breaks 39-year shot put record

Hayley Dimond broke an MMKAC shot put record which had lasted nearly four decades last week.

The youngster extended the under 15 girls shot put record to 11.94, breaking a record which had previously stood for 39 years when Jackie Rose threw 11.93m in 1981.

For added measure Hayley also broke the discus record of 31.54m from 1997 out to 31.86m.

Competing at a invitation throws meeting in Northampton the following weekend Hayley added over a metre to her record, throwing a best of 12.98m! This ranks her third in the UK. Hayley’s discus best of 31.54m puts her fifth and a javelin best of 34.61m is ninth.
