Dramatic draw for the Wolves

MK Wolves shares the points in their first league game of the season as they drew 36-36 with Southend Spartans on Saturday.

Wolves, travelling to Essex with just 14 players, were trailing after five minutes thanks to a try from the home side, but captain Scott Aspinall drew them level to ignite the game.

Both sides scored again before the break, but a Southend penalty ensured they’d go in ahead at half time.

Two quick tries in the second half put Wolves on top, especially when Spartans were reduced to 12 courtesy of a yellow card.

Wolves brought on Andrew Priddle and it paid off when he drove over for his first try in Wolves colours.

But as Wolves tried, Southend called on their subs to change the game, and that they did.

Another try for the home side brought the deficit to six points, before a late score levelled things.

Spartans fancied the win, but some hardy Wolves defence secured a draw.
