Bletchley climbed to seventh in Southern Counties North with a 13-7 win over lowly Thatcham at Manor Fields on Saturday.
Bletchley missed an early chance to take the lead when Phil Harman’s drop goal hit the posts, but t wasn’t long before they were ahead though.
Scrum half Kev Turnbull managed to get the ball away quickly from the maul and Glen White showed good strength to stretch forward to score with eight minutes on the clock. The conversion went wide, but the home side were in front 5-0.
Unable to add to their score before the break, it took Thatcham just two second half minutes to take the lead as they converted a try.
Both sides once again settled into the game, with Bletchley having the upper hand in terms of possession.
Eventually the home side broke the deadlock through a driving maul and Ben Robinson scored Bletchley’s second try of the afternoon. The conversion missed, but the home side were back in front 10-7 with 20 minutes gone.
The game flowed from end-to-end, but neither were able to add to the score until injury time, as Harmanslotted over a penalty to put the result beyond doubt at 13-7.
