Bletchley win to remain on top

Bletchley flexed their muscles on Saturday, running in seven unanswered tries against Reading Abbey to stay top of Southern Counties North.

The 45-0 scoreline didn’t flatter the visitors either - almost the whole first half was played deep in Reading territory.

Steve Allen scored the first try of the afternoon after Reading’s Fungai Mutepfa was sin binned.

Will Garrett then scored the first of his two tries, with Phil Harman slotting over his second conversion.

He made it three as he kicked the extras from George Harman’s try just before the break.

Reading showed signs of life just after the break, but were handling sloppily and missed a glorious chance to get on the board.

That was all the warning Bletchley needed, as they ran in three tries in the remaining five minutes starting with an excellent score Paul Millen.

Then Nobes crossed on the left before Garrett finished off the match with an audacious and memorable individual try, dummying his way to the line after tapping a free kick.

Milton Keynes slipped to fourth in the table though after suffering their second defeat in a row, losing 27-33 to Thatcham .
