Bletchley Ladies put in the strongest performance of the season against all-conquering Gloucester Ladies, despite losing 63-15.
Having run in 180 points in their previous two games, Gloucester hadn’t conceded a try all season.
The home side look set to run away with the league this season, but Bletchley’s aim was to limit Gloucester to 80 points - a feat they managed.
It was a tough ask though, and Bletchley discovered quickly how tough a task they were in for as Gloucester started fast, building up a 31-0 lead.
But Bletchley became the first team to cross the line shortly before the interval when the ball reached Jodie Denton out wide to score. Rachael Taylor added the extras to put Bletchley on the board.
Gloucester would go straight up the other end though and make it 36-7 at the break.
The second half looked as though it was going the same way as the opening of the first half, with Gloucester opening the lead to 48-7.
Caroline Collie kicked a penalty to take Bletchley to double figures, but the home side kept scoring, reaching 63 points.
But Bletchley were the final scorers They forced several penalties from the opposition, enabling them to push up the field, finishing with Collie putting the ball down in the corner for 63-15.
