Touch rugby league proves a hit

The inaugural Milton Keynes and Bletchley O2 Touch Rugby League competition finished on Thursday night after 10 weeks of matches involving teams from across the area.

The league was a new initiative introduced to Milton Keynes earlier in the year and has attracted more than 100 men and women in a short space of time, with the majority having not played any type of rugby before.

The league structure consisted of a number of corporate teams, including Countrywide, Nissan, MK Sports Development, Open University and sports related groups such as korfball, coaches and rugby players.

Open University played good basic touch rugby on the final evening to win all of their matches and gain maximum points. However, this was not enough to stop Touch & Beer who won the majority of their matches to lift the 2013 O2 Touch Rugby title.

With so many people involved in the sport, friendly touch rugby matches and coaching will continue every Thursday night at Milton Keynes Rugby Club in Emerson Valley every Thursday night at 7pm. All levels of ability are welcome.
