Silver for Sam as he leaps to a club record
Sam Featherstone flew to a silver medal in the high jump of the U17s Indoor Championships on Sunday.
Featherstone cleared 1.92m to claim second place, and set the second highest indoor jump by an Marshall Milton Keynes Athletic Club member.
The youngster was one of five athletes competing in the U15/17/20s event in Sheffield.
Three sprinters all reached their relevant 60m finals. Ebony Carr placed fifth in the under 20 women’s final with 7.58 and having improved her PB to 7.53s in the semi-finals.
Moyin Oduyemi placed sixth in the under15 girls final with 7.98s. Like Ebony set her PB of 7.93s in the semi-finals.
Maxwell Brown also took sixth in the under 20 Men’s final, recording 6.91s.
Rachel Oderinde clocked 8.06s in her heat of the U20’s 60m.
At the older end of the spectrum, three veteran athletes all won medals in the Eastern Masters Championships held at Lee Valley.
There was a double from John Skelton winning both the M65 800 (2.36.34) and 3000m (11.35.64), the latter a club age group record.
In the same age group John Browwne won the 60m in 8.26s. Paul Canning placed second in both the M50 60m (7.78) and 200m (25.52), the latter an age group club record.
On the roads there were four MK runners in the near 12,000 field “Big Half Marathon” in London. Jamie Seddon led MK home in 52nd with a PB of 71.24 followed by Paul Mizon, 59th and a PB of 71.53. New signing Elliot Hind closed in 61st with 71.53. Lara Bromilow placed 25th lady in 82.27.
