MK Rotary Club took the plunge on Saturday, raising over £25,000 for charity with a swimathon fundraiser.
The March 14 event featured the likes of Mayor Derek Eastman, MP Iain Stewart and Rotary’s district governor Jenny Muir.
This year the swimmers were enthusiastically greeted in reception by a selection of dogs from Dogs for the Disabled – one of the recipient charities. Willen Hospice, Macmillan, West Bletchley Counselling Service, Westbury Arts Centre and Works For Us will also benefit.
Heald Barracudas set an all-time record with 207 lengths swum in 55 minutes.
Swimathon chairman Bill Blyth said: “This was a magnificent effort and many thanks to everyone who made it such a great success.
“Thanks to our supporters, since Rotary started the fund-raiser in 1994 we have been able to distribute around £425,000 to local charities.”
