Medal delight for City team

It was a bumper year for City of Milton Keynes Swimming Club at this year’s ASA National Championships, collecting no less than five medals across the Youth and Age Group competitions.

Eighteen-year-old Joss Ulyett picked up the highest honours with gold in the 17/18 200m breaststroke and a bronze in the 17/18 100m breaststroke.

Team mate Charlotte Evans, 16, picked up no less than two silver medals for the Girls 15/16yrs 100m and 200m backstroke. While Max Murphy, 14, competing in his first Nationals, won a bronze in the Boys 14yrs 1500m freestyle.

The following swimmers made it into the Youth National finals: Tom Flaherty, Isobel Jones, Joss Ulyett, Charlotte Evans with Lucy Farmer and Max Murphy making the Age Group National Finals.

Together, and with club members now at Bath University, they qualified for eight different finals.

In addition, Emily Jones and Oliver Lines succeeded in reaching the Youth National semi-finals. There were a total of 12 CMKSC swimmers qualifying for individual events, including the above-named and 12-year-old Helen Odams, 13-year-old James Chandler (swimming with dual club Newport Pagnell SC), Courtney Best and Ryan Anscomb.

A further three club swimmers competed in the relays: David Witham, Rory Dougall and Cameron Sheehy.

In all, the club smashed an amazing five South East England Age Group records and nine Oxford and North Bucks County Records.
