Some 40 swimmers from CMK Swim Club competed at this year’s recent South East England regional championships across three weekends.
The meet represented the last chance for swimmers to qualify for the Summer British Championships as British Swimming adapts its competition schedule looking forward to Rio 2016 and beyond.
Miles Drabwell, Elliot Jones, Georgia Richardson and Helen Odams all made finals in PB times, with Helen taking silver in the14yrs 200m backstroke.
In the second weekend, there were wins for Isobel Jones (Women’s 400m Free), Tom Flaherty (Men’s 400m Free) and Max Murphy (15yrs 400m Free, 400m Medley and 1500m Free).
In the final weekend, gold medal winners were: Tom Flaherty (Gold 100m &200m Free), Joss Ulyett (Gold 100m Breaststroke), Max Murphy (Gold 200m Free), and Charlotte Evans who also set a new county record when winning Gold on 200m Backstroke. Further medal winners were David Witham, Isobel Jones, Lucy Farmer and Grace Spong. Lucy Chenery also won three Golds and two Silvers in the Multi-Disability competitions.
CMK were seventh overall in the unofficial medal table and were once again one of the strongest performing teams in the 15yrs and over groups, finishing just behind the top performing teams Guildford and Portsmouth.
