Trio of golds at the Indoor Champioships

Three athletes from Milton Keynes claimed gold medals at the South of England Indoor Championships.

Maxwell Brown won his heat of the under 17 men’s 60m in a personal best of 7.07, then won his semi-final in 7.09 and went even faster in the final with 7.04 for the gold medal.

Rachel Gibbens not only improved her Indoor Club pole vault record by 9cm, but her winning height of 4m10 was an outright personal best, adding 5cm to the height she achieved at Hendon last August.

Rachel did not enter the competition until 3.70m, a height better than the silver medallist (3.50m) achieved. She then cleared 3.80, 3.90 and 4.00m before clearing 4.10m at her third attempt.

Laura Zialor won the U20 triple jump with 12.12m, adding 27cm to her outright club indoor record from last year.

Laura had four valid jumps, all of which were better than the silver medallist’s 11.66m.

She leapt 1m75 in the high jump – the same height as the winner – only missing out on gold on count-back.

This height added 3cm to the club record set by Emma Beales 25years ago.

After her victory in the South of England Under 20 ladies triple jump championships, Laura Zialor has been selected to represent England in an Under 20 International at Cardiff on February 7.

Aaron Adom, in a very competitive senior 200m, won a superb bronze medal clocking 22.81, a personal best.
