Triple jump joy for MK trio

Chuko Cribb leapt 15.21m in the under 23 triple jump competition which also broke the 30-year old club record set by Darren Gomersall in 1986 with 15.06m.

Laura Zailor made it to the under 20 podium for the second consecutive week with a performance of 12.21m.

And Jamil Hassan, recovered from in jury to take the under 20 men bronze with a huge personal best of 14.46m, adding 33m to his 2015 best. This was the fourth best jump in the club all-time rankings for this discipline.

The in-form Kayleigh Presswell won bronze in the under 23 ladies hammer throwing the 4kg implement a distance of 54.32m whilst Laeken Impey thrtew 44.20m for 5th position.

Jonathan Pownall placed 8th in the under 20 men’s javelin throwing 56.76m

In the high quality sprint events Ebony Carr was second in her heat of the u20 100m with a time of 11.95, just short of her PB.

Then placed fifth in her semi-final (12.19) but not quite fast enough to make the final. Daniel Oderinde clocked a PB of 10.80 in the heats of the under 23’s 100m, 8th fastest in the club all-time rankings, but again could not make the final.

In the track and field leagues both the club’s senior and under 15 athletes were in action and both finished second in their leagues.

The seniors finished second in the Southern Athletics league Division One match at Oxford. Host club Radley AC won as MMKAC surged through to take second ahead of Crawley and Basingstoke.

For the men Aaron Adom won the 200m in a fast 21.92. Jeremy Boxberger(4.22.91) and Archie Rippon(4.27.64) won both 1500m races whilst in the 5000m Mark Ryall placed 2nd(15.29.98) in the “A” race and Steve Tuttle(16.03.86) won the “B”.

In the jumps youngsters Jack Porteous pole vaulted a PB of 3.10m to equal the winning height but losing out on the count-back whilst Robert Lewis equalled his high jump PB of 1.75m.

Lewis Barnes and Richard Goldsworthy contested all four of the throwing events and it was in the hammer throw that the duo came out best, Richard 2nd in the “A”(41.32m) and Lewis winning the “B”(32.60m).

For the ladies Emma Beardmore competed in the four throws with three 2nd places including throwing 47.92m in the hammer. Sade Ross won the “B” hammer(42.35m) and “B” shot(10.73m) whilst evergreen Emma Beales set a season’s best of 43.08m winning the discus throw.

On the track there was another 1500m double as Elle Roche won the “A” race(4.45.88) and Gemma Childs(5.05.47) the “B” and both setting 2016 bests.

The jumps produced valuable points from Bryony Gibbens winning the pole vault(3.10m), Molly Adams(5.17m) and Tia Margan(4.55m) both placed 2nd in the long jump and then Iris-Mae Morse triple jumped 10.20m for 2nd place and team-mate Amber Evans won the “B” (9.37m).

The u13/u15 team again finished second behind Rugby & Northampton in their Premier Youth Development match, held on this occasion at Coventry. They are in second place in the league and with their final match at home in July they should consolidate this position. The under 13 girls scored good points with Moyin Oduyemi winning the 150m(19.9) and the “B” shot(6.85m). Lara Moffat won the “A” shot(8.33m). Charlotte Underwood again produced an unusual double, winning her speciality, the 1200m in 3.58.7 and then the 70mhurdles(12.3). Lateefa Agberemi won the “B” 75m(10.6) and took second places in the 70mhurdles and long jump. Moyin, Charlotte and Lateefa then teamed-up with Asher Cliff-Afemari to win the 4 x 100m relay in a fast 55.1.

The under 13 boys quartet of Yinka Adelowo, Thomas Chalmers, Chad Wilson & George Ho also won their sprint relay in 54.4. Lewis Johnstone was their only individual winner, taking the javelin with a best throw of 30.31m. George Ho was second in both sprints, 100m(13.1) and 200m(27.4)

The 15’s again produced a 100/long jump double for Ethan Wiltshire(11.8/5.89m) and there was an impressive throws double from James Ericsson-Nicholls winning the hammer(48.35m) and discus(31.91m). He now moves to no2 in the club age group rankings for the hammer and a further 2metres could see him improve the 10-years old club record. More good field event points from Sam Featherstone, 2nd in the high jump(1.68m) and the “B” shot(8.11m) and long jump(5.16m).

For the under 15 girls, Montana Edghill continues to improve her 1500m PB, now down to 4.55.7, finishing 2nd in the “A” race, Barbara de Koning also 2nd in the “B” race, just off her PB with 5.04.0. Jasmine Trapnell was just short of he PB’s placing third in the hammer(37.71m) and discus(24.01m).
