The Dutchman took a remarkable podium at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria, but looked set for a third place finish before the Mercedes duo of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton collided on the final lap, damaging the German’s car and dropping him down the order.

The Dutchman held off a late charge from Kimi Raikkonen in the Ferrari to make his strategy pay off from eighth on the grid to finish third behind the warring Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

Daniel Ricciardo finished fifth in a fairly uneventful race for the Australian for 10 points towards his championship battle.

For Verstappen, it was his second career podium, having won on his Red Bull Racing debut in May at the Spanish Grand Prix.
